RELAX Plans Grassroots Mobilisation Across 774 LGAs for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election

do State chapter of “RELAX Tinubu is Fixing Nigeria”, an advocacy group supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has announced plans to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the 774 local government areas in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The state coordinator of the group, Hon. Patrick Idiake, said RELAX would focus on taking information about the Tinubu administration’s policies and programmes to communities across the country, particularly at the grassroots.

Idiake said the group believed some of the administration’s initiatives and achievements had not received adequate publicity, adding that RELAX would work to improve awareness of the government’s programmes among citizens.

He identified infrastructure development, student financing, tax reforms and increased revenue allocations to state and local governments as some of the areas the group intends to highlight during its mobilisation activities.

Patrick also commended the Federal Government’s removal of the petrol subsidy, describing the redirection of the resulting revenues to the different tiers of government as an important aspect of the administration’s economic policies.

He said RELAX would complement the activities of other groups supporting the President, including the City Boy Movement and Renew Hope, while seeking to build what he described as genuine grassroots support for Tinubu.

The Edo State women’s coordinator of RELAX, Marie Olabisi Idaomi, said women, farmers and other grassroots stakeholders would be central to the group’s mobilisation strategy.

Idaomi cited the student loan programme as one of the administration’s initiatives that could appeal to Nigerian families. She said mothers, in particular, could identify with programmes aimed at expanding educational opportunities for their children.

She also highlighted the involvement of farmers in the group, saying the agricultural sector remained an important constituency for policies and programmes being implemented by the administration.

On local government administration, Idaomi pointed to local government autonomy as an opportunity for citizens to demand greater accountability from elected chairmen and councillors and to monitor development at the grassroots.

She said RELAX was established to take its message to communities across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, with the aim of increasing public awareness of the administration’s policies and programmes.

Idaomi also commended the administration’s economic and financial reforms, linking President Tinubu’s previous experience in accounting, finance and revenue administration to his approach to public finance.

The group said its grassroots activities would continue as it seeks to expand its presence across communities ahead of the 2027 election.
