PUBLIC NOTICE: BAN ON PRODUCTION, SALE AND CONSUMPTION OF SACHET GIN IN EDO STATE. This is to inform the General Public, especially sellers, dealers, distributors and manufacturers of Sachet Gin that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control - NAFDAC has banned the production, sale and consumption of Sachet Gin nationwide due to its danger to human health. In line with this directive, NAFDAC has ordered a total mop-up and withdrawal of all Sachet Gin from production centers and markets across the country. In view of the above, the Edo State Consumer Protection Committee hereby directs as follows: 1.  All sellers, dealers and manufacturers of Sachet Gin in Edo State should immediately withdraw and dispose of all Sachet Gin in their custody within 7 days of this notice. 2.  Failure to comply with this directive will attract penalties, seizure and prosecution in line with relevant laws. 3.  Taskforce teams will commence full enforcement and...

The consumers protection committee, CPC in Edo State says they are fully ready to have a cross section and interactive engagement with relevant stakeholders across the eighteen local government area in the state. In a statement jointly signed by Mr Osaro Iyamu Culture, Mrs Osaghae Sweet Oghogho, Mr. Eshesimua Sunday Charles and Mr. Audu Solomon, Chairman, Edo south, Edo central and Edo north coordinators respectively on Monday 31 August, after their inaugural meeting, they said plans are seriously underway to have stakeholders/town hall meeting. PRESS RELEA Works Minister apologises over Benin-Agbor Road, orders arrest of contractors removing asphalt The Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Tuesday apologised to commuters and residents of Edo and Delta states over the deplorable condition of the Benin-Agbor Road, which has caused them undue hardship. Umahi tendered the apology in Benin City while on an inspection tour of major Federal roads in the state alongside the governor,Sen Monday Okpebholo and ordered the arrest of contractors and concessionaires found removing asphalt from federal roads without authorisation. 2027 Election : Benin Groups Backs Iyamu Says Misconception Over Origin Resolved A coalition of Benin socio-cultural and youth groups, on Tuesday endorsed the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, declaring that earlier reservations about his origin had been resolved. The groups, numbering about 25 and comprising Otedo Youth Movement Worldwide, Aiguobasinmwin Movement Worldwide, Eliz United Forum, Girl Child for Social Change among others, threw their weight behind Iyamu at an endorsement ceremony held at Imaguero College, Benin City.
