Hon Ogbeide Ihama,  an aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Edo South Senatorial District has appealed to the leaders in the Senatorial District to give him the ticket as he is the most qualified and experienced to represent Edo South in the Red chamber.  He made the appeal when he visited the leadership of the party in Edo South Senatorial District where he declared his intention to run for the Senatorial ticket in Benin city. LP Holds Edo Congress, Inaugurates New Exco The Edo State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, on Saturday 25 April 2026, concluded its ward, local government, and state congresses across the state by electing,  Engr. Michael Oshiobugie as Chairman. The party Congresses produced 24-member executive officers in the state which were drawn from the three senatorial districts . By affirmation, the congress produced a 24-member executive structure drawn from the senatorial districts as follows: Edo South (9), Edo North (8), and Edo Central (7). The elected LGA officers, delegates, and stakeholders in the various senatorial districts administered the congresses, and the officers were elected by affirmation. Aiguobasinmwin Movement World-Wide, a group which described itself as the socio-cultural defenders of the rich culture, traditions, customs and heritage of the Edo Nation, has voiced it’s opposition to the likely emergence of two candidates on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Paddy Iyamu and Ndidi Aighimien in the 2027 polls. Agbonayinma and others during the media briefing in his residence in Benin City.   A former member of the House of Representatives in Edo State, Hon Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, on Wednesday dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, citing undue interference from political leaders in the state, among others as his reasons. Announcing his resignation from the party at his Benin residence, Agbonayinma lamented the party had been highjacked by some individuals, who appropriated the party to themselves. While not disclosing the political party he would be joining, the lawmaker, who represented the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, said that he would be seeking a return to the lower chamber in the next National Assembly election.
