Suspected Cultists Attack  Odionwere, Elders, Okaighele In Obazuwa Community 



Not less than twenty suspected cultists led by the former Okaighele,
Odaro Peace Ibizugbe, of Obazuwa Community in the Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State,off the upper  Ekenwan road,  weekend  attacked the Odionwere, elders and the present Okaighele of the community.

Odaro and his group of boys were said to have invaded the community with guns, battle axes and different weapons.

According to the new Okaighele, Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare, they were at the Odionwere house on Friday 27 of March,  at about 11 am holding meeting to brief the elders of the community who could not attend the meeting at the Palace of the Royal father, Oba Ewuare 11 where the issue of the Obazuwa community Okaigheleship  was resolved, when Odaro and his group of boys armed to the teeth Attacked us.

Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare was finally confirmed as the Okaighele of Obazuwa Community by Oba Ewuare 11,on Tuesday 24 March 2026 after the committee was set up by the  Palace to investigate the rightful person to install Okaighele.

The committee which was headed by Chief Osaro Idah in their findings said it is the Odionwere that has the authority to choose who should be the Okaighele of a community.

As a result Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare
who has initially been chosen by the Odionwere and the elders of the community were then installed as the new Okaighele of the Obazuwa community.


Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare took over from the former Okaighele,  Odaro Peace Ibizugbe who was removed by the community for  alleged "abominable acts, by creating community boundaries without the knowledge and authorization of the Odionwere and the elders of community and the consent of the Benin Royal Palace. He also encroached on the land allocated to the Omo N'Oba in the community, which is a sacrilege." 

Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare, said the Odionwere and the elders were not spared as they started shooting sporadically and beating everybody around in the meeting.

He stated that Odaro Peace Ibizugbe, the former Okaighele who led the boys boosted that the judgement of the Palace can never stand.

" I am here and I tell everyone of you that I remain the Okaighele of the Obazuwa community. If you like to go and bring the Police, DSS or army they cannot do me anything". He stated.

Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare, applead to his Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare 11, the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday OKpebholo, the Security Agencies to come to their rescue as ,Odaro Peace Ibizugbe have warned that he will deal with them by any means.

He added that, the community have been deserted as a result of the attack and fear of being killed, because nobody knows when they will come again to Attack. There are video evidence of the attack by Odaro and his cultist boys invading the house of the Odionwere on that fateful day.

Breaking  **Edo Governorship Tribunal rule that PDP Petition fails Over Lack of Competent Witnesses** The Edo State Governorship Elections Tribunal has said that the PDP petition challenging the outcome of the 2024 governorship election failed, citing a lack of competent witnesses and insufficient evidence to substantiate claims of electoral malpractice. Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
