RESTRUCTURE EDO STATE SECURITY ARCHITECTURE FOR EFFECTIVE POLICING Now- AiGUOBASIMWIN Movement Worldwide Tells Governor Monday Okpebholo

AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE has called on the governor of Edo State Sen. Monday Okpebholo to urgently review and restructure the current local security architecture to ensure effective security and public safety.

The MOVEMENT said the recent occurrence in the state calls for concern of every key security officers including Commissioner for Public Complaints and Safety and other related security task forces/committees.

In a press statement issued by the group managing officers, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture – President , Mr. Osayuki-Osa Benson – Secretary General and Mr. Monday Ohuimumwen, JP – Diaspora Coordinator; the current arrangement of local security officers in their view will not yield the desired results in terms of orderliness, inclusivity, and safety across Edo State.

“It is also regrettable that the much-publicized Edo State Vigilante Security Corps/VSCTF has, in many areas, deviated from its core mandate. Reports indicate they now function more as messengers, personal bodyguards, and garage touts rather than as community policing agents.

“We also note with concern the daily influx of persons/fulanis through the Benin-Auchi-Okene-Abuja road into Edo State, whose activities have been reported to be inimical to the lives and property of Edo people. We therefore urge the Edo State Government to initiate proactive steps to address and manage their influx.

“We further advise Governor Monday Okpebholo to reintroduce the Neighborhood Watch Scheme and create sustainable Empowerment Programs for Edo youth”

“Security is a fundamental responsibility of government and a matter of life and death. It must therefore be handled with seriousness, professionalism, and devoid of ethnic colouration. Edo people deserve a security system built on merit, competence, and fair representation.

The Edo State High Court has declared unlawful the restriction of human and vehicular movement during the state’s environmental sanitation exercise, in a landmark judgment delivered on Thursday. Justice Isoken Urhomwen Erameh ruled that the enforcement of a stay-at-home order between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on sanitation days violates citizens’ constitutional rights. In its decision, the court held that such restrictions are inconsistent with Section 41(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, which guarantees freedom of movement. It further found the measures to be in breach of Articles 12 and 13 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Suspected Cultists Attack  Odionwere, Elders, Okaighele In Obazuwa Community  Not less than twenty suspected cultists led by the former Okaighele, Odaro Peace Ibizugbe, of Obazuwa Community in the Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State,off the upper  Ekenwan road,  weekend  attacked the Odionwere, elders and the present Okaighele of the community. Odaro and his group of boys were said to have invaded the community with guns, battle axes and different weapons.
