*COMMENDATION OF EDO STATE GOVERNMENT AND SECURITY OPERATIVES FOR SWIFT RESPONSE TO KIDNAPPING INCIDENTS*

AIGUOBASINMWIN MOVEMENT WORLD-WIDE wishes to commend the Edo State Government and Security Operatives for their swift and proactive response to the recent kidnapping incidents at the Vegetable Market and other locations within the state.

We note with appreciation the speed and coordination with which the rescue operations were carried out. The rate at which victims were rescued is rare, professional, and deserves commendation.

This prompt action has restored confidence in the ability of government and security agencies to protect lives and property. We urge that this level of responsiveness be sustained and improved upon to deter future criminal activities across Edo State.

We stand in solidarity with the government and security operatives as they continue to secure our communities.

The Edo State High Court has declared unlawful the restriction of human and vehicular movement during the state’s environmental sanitation exercise, in a landmark judgment delivered on Thursday. Justice Isoken Urhomwen Erameh ruled that the enforcement of a stay-at-home order between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on sanitation days violates citizens’ constitutional rights. In its decision, the court held that such restrictions are inconsistent with Section 41(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, which guarantees freedom of movement. It further found the measures to be in breach of Articles 12 and 13 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Justice Erameh consequently issued a declaration that the prohibition of movement during the sanitation period is unlawful and unconstitutional. Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Suspected Cultists Attack  Odionwere, Elders, Okaighele In Obazuwa Community  Not less than twenty suspected cultists led by the former Okaighele, Odaro Peace Ibizugbe, of Obazuwa Community in the Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State,off the upper  Ekenwan road,  weekend  attacked the Odionwere, elders and the present Okaighele of the community. Odaro and his group of boys were said to have invaded the community with guns, battle axes and different weapons. According to the new Okaighele, Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare, they were at the Odionwere house on Friday 27 of March,  at about 11 am holding meeting to brief the elders of the community who could not attend the meeting at the Palace of the Royal father, Oba Ewuare 11 where the issue of the Obazuwa community Okaigheleship  was resolved, when Odaro and his group of boys armed to the teeth Attacked us.
