*STATEMENT BY CONCERNED EDO SOUTH APC STAKEHOLDERS ON PARTY LOYALTY, EQUITY AND THE INTEGRITY OF THE SENATORIAL PRIMARY*
On Building the Party vs. Hawking for a Ticket
The All Progressives Congress in Edo South was not built in one day. Many of us laboured when there was nothing to gain, when the path was uncertain, and when loyalty meant sacrifice without reward. It is therefore painful to watch the pioneer efforts of those who kept the structure alive being overlooked, while persons with no verifiable history of building, funding, or defending the party in Edo South now seek to claim its highest prize.
We ask respectfully: Is Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama a card-carrying member of the APC in Edo South? Have those sponsoring his ambition contributed to any election, ward, LGA, or senatorial campaign for the APC in this state? Have they built structures, mobilized voters, or defended the party when it mattered?
If the answer is no, then we must ask why the party should route its machinery and goodwill for those who have not entered the fold, contributed to its growth, or earned the trust of its members. Politics is not charity, and a political party is not a transit lounge.
*On Silence in the Face of an Assault*
The silence of some party leaders in the face of this unfolding assault on our institution is deafening. When imposition, intimidation, and the use of state apparatus are being deployed to undermine a free primary, silence is not neutrality—it is complicity.
Our party’s strength has always been its internal democracy and respect for members who built it from the ground up. To allow external interests and late entrants to override that process is to rape the very institution we nurtured through sacrifice.
*Our Demand for Loyalty, Justice and Equity*
If we demand loyalty from members, then we must also demand justice and equity from leadership. The time for silence is over. Leadership must speak clearly and act decisively to protect the integrity of the Edo South Senatorial primary scheduled for 18th May, 2026.
We therefore call on the APC National Working Committee, the Edo State APC leadership, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to ensure:
1. A transparent, free and fair primary where every cleared aspirant is given a level playing field.
2. That party structures are not used to promote external interests over those of loyal members.
3. That the sacrifice of pioneer members and grassroots mobilizers is not discarded for convenience.
*Conclusion*
Edo South APC belongs to its members. We will not stand by and watch it handed over to those who did not build it. The message from the failed endorsement attempt on 13th May was clear: the people have spoken, and they stand with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Let justice prevail. Let equity guide us. Let the party speak now, or bear the consequences of silence later.
