*EDO APC WANTED TO SET EDO PEOPLE AGAINST OUR HIGHLY REVERED PALACE, BUT THE OBA OF BENIN’S STANCE PREVENTED IT – A CALL FOR RESTRAINT*

It is no longer news that APC in Edo State rose to power through our struggle against Obaseki’s failed attempt to seize our returned stolen artefacts and other matters concerning the great Benin people. 

During the 2024 governorship election, we advocated that Governor Monday Okpebholo should reverse the sacrilegious acts and other offenses Obaseki committed against our Palace and the Benin people. That advocacy paid off, and we sacrificed for it.

It is therefore regrettable that despite our repeated appeals to the APC-led government in Edo State on key issues — the reinstatement of the Benin Royal Museum, rehabilitation of Oba Akenzua Cultural Centre, and our opposition to any attempt by some APC members to collaborate with external forces to cede parts of our land for the proposed Anioma State, Toru-Ebe State, and others — the government has instead devoted its resources to causing division among Benin people.

This was evident in the caricature Edo South Senatorial primary they conducted, which produced Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Hon. Ogbeide Ihama as individual candidates for the same position. Yet Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu still defeated Hon. Ogbeide Ihama.

Instead of waiting for the APC National Working Committee to resolve the matter, they hurried to the Palace to present Hon. Ogbeide Ihama to the Oba of Benin, contrary to normal practice, in an attempt to give their flawed primary the backing of our revered Palace.

As expected, the Oba of Benin, in his wisdom, asked for the certificate of return allegedly issued to Hon. Ogbeide Ihama by the APC NWC. None was presented. Instead, they displayed kangaroo results from those bent on imposing him on Edo South Senatorial District.

When probed further by the Oba of Benin, Hon. Ogbeide Ihama stated that the final results will be confirmed next week by the highest decision-making body of the party. If the matter is still unresolved and pending before the APC NWC, why the rush to the Palace of the great Oba of Benin?  

We thank God Almighty and our Ancestors for the wisdom He gave to the Oba of Benin to handle this delicate matter.

*Let it be noted* that *no endorsement was carried out* inside our highly revered Benin Royal Palace.

In conclusion, *the Oba of Benin sued for peace* among all parties.

Justice Isoken Urhomwen Erameh ruled that the enforcement of a stay-at-home order between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on sanitation days violates citizens’ constitutional rights. Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Suspected Cultists Attack  Odionwere, Elders, Okaighele In Obazuwa Community  Not less than twenty suspected cultists led by the former Okaighele, Odaro Peace Ibizugbe, of Obazuwa Community in the Ovia North-East local government area of Edo State,off the upper  Ekenwan road,  weekend  attacked the Odionwere, elders and the present Okaighele of the community. Odaro and his group of boys were said to have invaded the community with guns, battle axes and different weapons. According to the new Okaighele, Mr. Idahosa Nosakhare, they were at the Odionwere house on Friday 27 of March,  at about 11 am holding meeting to brief the elders of the community who could not attend the meeting at the Palace of the Royal father, Oba Ewuare 11 where the issue of the Obazuwa community Okaigheleship  was resolved, when Odaro and his group of boys armed to the teeth Attacked us.
