Group Demands Edo APC Secretary’s Resignation For over Staying In Office 




A Concerned Group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo South Senatorial District has called for the resignation of the State Secretary of the Party, Engr. Lawrence Okah, for  alleged over stay in the office.

Speaking to  journalists in Benin on Monday, Coordinator of the group, Ambassador Curtis Eghosa Ugbo said, “Lawrence Okah disproportionately has been in the office as secretary of the APC for the past ten years.

The group, while appealing to “APC party leaders across Edo State, called Lawrence Okah to order by vacating the position of Secretary of APC in Edo State.

He said, the Steven (7) Local Government areas in Edo South senatorial district have capable men and women that can handle the office of the secretary of our great party, the APC .

He also called on “His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo to ensure fair and inclusive appointments by prevailing on Lawrence Okah to vacate the office of the State Secretary of the party and allow someone else to take over.

 " Lawrence Okah has over-stayed as APC State Secretary and allowed him to continue in that capacity will amount to disregard for the party constitution." He stated.

According to him, "Such actions are against the spirit and ideology of the APC, which is founded on fairness and inclusivity,”


We urged APC leaders across Edo South senatorial district to intervene and restore balance in the party’s structure. 

“This unity and growth of the APC in  Edo South Senatorial District is being threatened . We urge the governor to step into these injustices and ensure that the party constitution is followed to the letter,” he added.

Comrade Curtis Ugbo, further stated that any signature from such illegal Tenure Elongation State Secretary of the Party will be non and void in the Court of Law and can by used against the Party Candidates by any Opposition Parties just like what happened in Zamfara State recently at the Supreme Court of Justice........" We will not allow the selfish interests of a few individuals in the Party, overrides the general interest of the Party, for no one man is bigger than APC in Edo South Senatorial District".

"As  members of APC in Edo State and a stakeholder in Edo-South Senatorial District, we have decided to start taking some of them to account to Benin Kingdom cum Edo State cum Nigeria and the masses.

 "Illegal Tenure Elongation must be *RESISTED* in Edo South and Edo South must be GREAT again". He concluded.

Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
