Okpevbolo Sworn-In As The Sixth Civilian Governor Of Edo State

Monday Okpebholo, a sitting senator, has been sworn in as the 6th Executive Governor of Edo State.

Okpebholo formally took oath of office on Tuesday during an inauguration ceremony held at the Main Bole of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, the Edo State capital.

This milestone follows his victory in the September 21 off-cycle governorship election, where he represented the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the election, Okpebholo garnered 291,667 votes, surpassing Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who secured 247,274 votes. Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) trailed behind with 22,763 votes.

Prominent figures in attendance at the inauguration included Vice-President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Gaduje ,Sen. Adams aliyu Oshiomhole, reinstated Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu, and other governors affiliated with the APC.
