Edo 2024 : PDP As A Party Will Decide It's Flag Bearer Says Obaseki

Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Thursday, said that members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would determine who would be the flag bearer in the forthcoming governorship elections in the state.

Obaseki stated this in Bauchi when he and former Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state paid a congratulatory visit to Gov. Bala Mohammed over his victory at the Court of Appeal.

Speaking on the relationship between him and his Deputy, Philip Shuaibu, Obaseki said “the relationship as you know is cordial.

“He wants to run for the office and he is free to do so and you know as a Nigerian, he has the constitutional right to run and nobody can or should stop him.

“The party will decide and also the members of the party will decide who will be the flag bearer of our party in the forthcoming general elections in Edo state

“I’m only one of millions of our party members in Edo state and I don’t think my vote would determine whether he becomes the flag bearer or not,” he said.

According to him, they were also in Bauchi state to discuss some pertinent issues relating to the PDP Governors Forum, politics in Edo state as well as the state of the country in general.

Obaseki, who acknowledged that things were difficult and Nigerians were suffering at this period in time, said it was time for Nigerian leaders to stop lamenting, confront the issues and find means of reducing the suffering.

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has announced Barr. Musa U. Ikhilor as Secretary to State Government (SSG); Hon. Samson Osagie PhD as Attorney General and Commissioner For Justice; and Dr Cyril Adams Oshiomhole as Commissioner for Health.
