Breaking: Federal High Court RefuesTo stops Edo From Conducting Council Polls

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, and the state government to appear before it on the 6th of September 2023 to explain why the election should be conducted.

The state government had earlier fixed Saturday, September 2nd, for the elections of LGA Chairmen and wards counsellors, but it is obvious that the election may not hold as the All Progressives Congress APC had gone to court to stop the process.

The case with suit no. FHC/Abuja/CS/1136/2023, between the All Progressives Congress APC, Edema Omoleye Felix and Imasuen Kate vs INEC, EDSIEC and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Edo State, is said to be seeking for an interlocutory injunction on the election, the court, however, ordered that the defendants be served and put on notice, asking them to appear before it on the 6th of September, 2023
