Bolt Drivers In Benin Protest Over The Killing Of One Of Their Driver
Bolt drivers under the agis of E-hailing Drivers on Thursday in Benin City protested the killing of their colleague, Henry Osarodion, by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
The drivers, who matched major streets in Benin, called on relevant authorities to book the officers who killed their colleague to book.
Speaking on behalf of other drivers, Mr. Festus Nwabuzor said late Henry went to drop a passenger at the Castle Hotel when one of the officers who he allegedly almost hit with his vehicle came out and beat him up mercilessly, and therefore took him to their office off Limit Road and locked him up from 12am to 5pm.
He called on the Nigerian Police Force and other relevant authorities to carry out proper investigation with the aid of the CCTV and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu confirmed the incident and explained that four officers of the NSCDC have been arrested under their custody.
CSP Yamu said Edo State Commissioner of Police, Betty Osetimeyin has directed proper investigation before they can be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law.
CSP Yamu assured the people that the police would ensure that the matter is followed up to a logical conclusion and see that justice is not just served but seen to have been served.
The Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Efosa Ogbebor who spoke on the telephone, said their men who are providing security for the hotel were separating fight when mob came to take over the scene and the corp immediately withdrew their men to the police for safety and investigation.
