My Resignation From APC Stands Chief Francis inegbeneki
A Grassroot politician and a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Chief Francis Inegbeniki, has explained why he resigned from the party a few days ago.
Inegbeniki had in a letter dated June 8, 2024, and addressed to APC Ward 9 Chairman, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, tendered his resignation from the party.
However, an online publication had it yesterday that the former APC stalwart had rescinded his resignation and remains a member of the APC.
But addressing journalists today, June 10, 2024, at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State council, Chief Inegbeniki refuted the said online publication and re-emphasized his resignation from the APC.
According to him, he was no more comfortable with happenings in the party and that prompted his resignation from the party.
Asked where he was heading politically, Chief Inegbeniki said for now, he has taken a break for partisan politics, adding that this will enable him to say the truth.
He added: “At the moment, I need a break. For now, I want to stay clear from partisan politics. Anytime I decide to support any political party, I will still come here and let you know.
“For those who know me, you will agree with me that I am an activist. There are a lot of ills in this state which I suppose to speak against, but being partisan didn’t allow me, but now that I am no longer in any political party, I will open my mouth and speak the truth. I will speak when the time comes.”
Chief Inegbeniki described what is about to happen in the APC as regarding defection as political tsunami, stressing that he is just leading the way.
“What is going to happen in the APC is going to be a political tsunami, I am only leading the way. I can tell you it is not about Inegbeniki but the people,” he added.
