Man Batters Wife's Face In Delta

A woman has been left with a battered face and blackened eye after she was beaten by her husband in Warri, Delta State.

The woman, identified as Omoefe Sodje was hospitalized after the assault.

Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu received photos of her injuries from her hospital bed and shared the photos on his social media handles on Tuesday. Some of the photos reveal blood gushing down her face whilst another displayed dried blood mixed with sand on her face.

In another photo, she is seen with her hand wrapped in bandages following medical treatment at the hospital.

Sharing the pictures via his X account, Gwamnishu wrote: “This evening, a woman named Omoefe Sodje sent me these pictures from her hospital bed.

“Na our gender, a Delta man use hand beat her like this and this happened in Warri.

“She’s seeking for our help for Justice.”

The Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare the second has officially announced the suspension of 67 (sixty-seven) enigie (dukes) with immediate effect. The announcement is contained in a statement by the secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor and made available to newsmen. According to the statement, the suspension of the enigie was largely due to their rebellious activities to balkanize the throne and the kingdom. It would be recalled that the suspended dukes, led by professor Gregory Akenzua and Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen have challenged the suspension in court.

Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
