Edo Deputy Governor, Shaibu Seeks Court Protection against Removal from Office
Edo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Philip Shaibu has approached the court to seek protection from possible impeachment and removal from office.
In a motion of notice brought before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja and made available to newsmen on Thursday, the state deputy governor seeks an interlocutory injunction stopping the respondents or their agents from intimidating, embarrassing or preventing him from performing his functions as Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Mr. Shaibu is also seeking protection against prevention from attending the state Executive Council meetings and other functions pending the determination of the substantive suit.
Listed as defendants in the suit are the Inspector General of Police, the State Security Service, the Governor of Edo State, the speaker Edo House of Assembly and the Chief Judge of Edo State.
It was leant that an alleged humiliation of the deputy governor by his principal, Governor Godwin Obaseki started when Shaibu was seen in a viral video with a former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Adams Oshiomhole during the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in Abuja.
