2023 WWC: Supper Falcon To Meet England In Round Of 16

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will trade tackle with European champions, England in the Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The encounter scheduled to hold at the Lang Park, Brisbane on Monday, July 7, will be the first-ever meeting between both teams.

The Three Lionesses booked a date with the Super Falcons after finishing top of Group D.

England thrashed China 6-1 in their final group game on Tuesday afternoon.

Lauren James grabbed a brace for England in the encounter.

Alessia Ruso, Lauren Hemp, Chloe Kelly and Rachel Daly were the other goal scorers for England in the game.

The Edo State High Court has declared unlawful the restriction of human and vehicular movement during the state’s environmental sanitation exercise, in a landmark judgment delivered on Thursday. Justice Isoken Urhomwen Erameh ruled that the enforcement of a stay-at-home order between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on sanitation days violates citizens’ constitutional rights. In its decision, the court held that such restrictions are inconsistent with Section 41(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, which guarantees freedom of movement. It further found the measures to be in breach of Articles 12 and 13 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Justice Erameh consequently issued a declaration that the prohibition of movement during the sanitation period is unlawful and unconstitutional. Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
