A Federal High Court has granted an interim order restraining the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress from embarking on strike on Wednesday. Justice O. Y. Anuwe issued the order on Monday and adjourned further hearing till 19 June.

Breaking  **Edo Governorship Tribunal rule that PDP Petition fails Over Lack of Competent Witnesses** The Edo State Governorship Elections Tribunal has said that the PDP petition challenging the outcome of the 2024 governorship election failed, citing a lack of competent witnesses and insufficient evidence to substantiate claims of electoral malpractice. The petitioners had alleged that the failure to properly record electoral materials prior to the election had affected the results. However, the tribunal found that while documents were submitted, no witnesses were called to properly authenticate them, rendering the evidence inadmissible. 67 Dukes Suspended By Oba Of Benin Over Rebellious Act .

The Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare the second has officially announced the suspension of 67 (sixty-seven) enigie (dukes) with immediate effect. The announcement is contained in a statement by the secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor and made available to newsmen. According to the statement, the suspension of the enigie was largely due to their rebellious activities to balkanize the throne and the kingdom. It would be recalled that the suspended dukes, led by professor Gregory Akenzua and Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen have challenged the suspension in court.

Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Challenging Edo Governorship Election The Supreme Court has ruled that the petitioners seeking to nullify the Edo State governorship election failed to substantiate their claims. Delivering its verdict on Thursday, the apex court held that since the petitioners did not challenge results from all the polling units across the state, it was “absurd” to demand the nullification of the entire election and to be declared winners. The court further stated that the appellants failed to call witnesses or tender admissible evidence to prove irregularities in the disputed polling units. With this ruling, the Supreme Court has affirmed the outcome of the election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
