The Press Release Made Available To Journalists In Benin By The Edo National Voice State's As Follows
A CALL ON GOVERNOR OBASEKI TO RELEASE WORLD BANK GRANT:
While we understand that government is about serving and meeting the interests of the people, it is important at this moment to call on Governor Obaseki to immediately release the second tranche meant for Beneficiaries who successfully scaled through the application and vetting stages which was designed under Edo NG CARES as a key component of Nigerian COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus(NG CARES).
It could be recalled that the Federal Government in collaboration with World Bank set aside billion of naira to cushion the effect of COVID-19 on micro and small businesses in 2020 wherein the 36 states Governors and FCT were given 3.5 billion naira each to disburse to micro and small business owners in their respective states in view to cushioning the impact of COVID-19 on their businesses but Governor Obaseki has adopted a staggered and snail method of disbursement of the World Bank Business Grant whereas majority of State Governors has since released the funds to business owners in their respective states.
Therefore, we are calling on Governor Obaseki to immediately release the second tranche meant for Beneficiaries of the Edo NG CARES (Phase 2) as delay they say is dangerous.
